Founded in 1983, ICIMOD is based in Kathmandu, Nepal, and brings together a partnership of regional member countries, partner institutions, and donors with a commitment for development action to secure a better future for the people and environment of the Hindu Kush-Himalayas.      <more about ICIMOD>

ICIMOD Strategic Framework

The Board of Governors of ICIMOD approved the new five-year Strategic Framework and Medium Term Action Plan for 2008-2012 at a meeting held in Dhulikhel near Kathmandu, Nepal, from 26 to 28 November 2007. The new strategy foresees three strategic programmes – Integrated Water and Hazard Management, Environmental Change and Ecosystem Services, and Sustainable Livelihoods and Poverty Reduction – supported by a strong knowledge management group and specialists in gender, equity, governance, and economics, and working together on programmes designed to help people adapt to climate change and improve their livelihoods while protecting the environment.
